Fastest Growing AT&T Wireless Retailer Continues Expansion with
Acquisition of 53 New Stores
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 6, 2014--
Spring Mobile, the Utah-based retailer of AT&T wireless phones and a
wholly owned subsidiary of GameStop Corporation, announced today the
acquisition of 53 high-volume retail store locations from Product
Center. Representing the company’s most significant acquisition to date,
the deal positions Spring Mobile as the fastest growing authorized
retailer of AT&T wireless solutions.
“We are focused on making high-quality affordable AT&T wireless services
available to more people in more locations nationwide, and our new
stores have significantly increased the rate at which we can do that –
particularly in the New York tri-state area,” said Jason Ellis,
president of Spring Mobile. “We are proud to earn the role as AT&T’s
fastest growing authorized retail partner and look forward to continue
growing our retail footprint in other markets across the country.”
According to Ellis, with the backing of parent-company GameStop, Spring
Mobile has pursued an ambitious growth strategy aimed at providing
customers in underserved markets with choice, value and convenience
across a range of superior AT&T wireless voice and data services. With
the addition of the new locations, Spring Mobile now operates 298 stores
in 26 states. The acquisition marks Spring Mobile’s first entrance into
New York and Connecticut, with 19 and 12 stores respectively. It also
expands the company’s presence in New Jersey by 19 stores.
The 53-store transaction is the third major acquisition Spring Mobile
has announced this year. During the last 12 months, Spring Mobile has
more than doubled in size, adding almost 200 stores since the fall of
2013. The company plans to continue evaluating strategic expansion
opportunities in the future.
