Semifinalists Square Off in GameStop's Super Smash Bros. Brawl Finals

Largest In-Store Tournament to Date Enters Last Stage of Competition

GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2008--GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME), the world's largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced the Semifinalists who will advance to the final stage of competition in a quest to be crowned its Super Smash Bros. Brawl Grand Prize Winner. The Semifinalists were selected from more than 75,000 competitors who successfully completed three previous rounds of competition at the Store, District and Regional levels. GameStop's Super Smash Bros. Brawl Tournament, the largest in-store video gaming competition to date, was launched on March 8.

GameStop congratulates the following Semifinalists who qualified to compete in the final rounds of competition on April 12 at 2:00 p.m., at GameStop's San Jose Tournament Center (3600-A Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose, CA):

Semifinalists will be given two opportunities to compete against one another in a five-minute match. The top two scoring Semifinalists (after double elimination rounds) will be declared the Finalists. The Finalist with the best of three rounds score will be declared the Grand Prize Winner of the 2008 Super Smash Brothers Brawl Tournament. The Finalist with the second highest score will be named the Second Prize Winner.

    Prize Information

    --  Semifinalists each receive air transportation, two night's
        hotel accommodation and a monetary stipend

    --  Grand Prize: One Vizio 37" LCD-TV, an entire Nintendo Wii
        Software Library, one Nintendo Wii console and selected
        accessories, and $5,000 in cash

    --  Second Prize: $1,000 GameStop Gift Card

Super Smash Bros. Brawl features dozens of Nintendo characters, from Mario to Link to Pikachu, as well as new characters like Solid Snake, a gritty soldier from Konami's hugely popular Metal Gear series, and Sonic The Hedgehog.
