Driver Wins Third Race of Season, Raises Awareness for "Family Night In" Promotion
JOLIET, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 11, 2009--
Joey Logano and GameStop (NYSE: GME) capped off a big weekend with a
victory in the Dollar General 300 presented by Coca-Cola at the
Chicagoland Speedway Friday night. The victory is the third of the
season for Logano and the fourth of his young NASCAR Nationwide Series
career.
This was Logano’s first race on the Chicagoland surface, but the finish
should not come as a surprise as he has been particularly dominant on
the intermediate-size tracks. All four of his wins have come on tracks
between 1.33-miles and 2-miles in length. Logano led a total of 96 laps
on the evening and beat his teammate, Kyle Busch, to the finish line to
give Joe Gibbs Racing their fourth 1-2 finish of the season.
Logano’s previous wins this season came at the Kentucky Speedway and the
Nashville Superspeedway, which are both standalone events for the
Nationwide Series. This win at Chicagoland marks his first at a Sprint
Cup Series companion event. Since companion events draw a larger number
of Sprint Cup drivers to compete, the status of a win here is
automatically elevated -- making this Logano’s biggest win in the
Nationwide series to date.
“This is unbelievable,” said Logano. “We are on a roll with this
GameStop Toyota. I have such a great team behind me at Joe Gibbs Racing
-- they often make my job look easy! I’m fortunate to be the driver that
gets to sit behind the wheel for GameStop, and I recognize that we beat
a lot of good cars out there.”
Joey’s winning car tonight featured Wii Sports Resort as well as
a decal for GameStop’s Family Night In initiative. Family
Night In is a summer-wide promotion that encourages families to
explore ways of spending quality, fun, time at home together. In
addition to receiving an extra 20- percent trade-in credit good toward
select Family Night In titles on summer Tuesdays, families can
also visit www.gamestop.com/familynightin
for special food offers and discounts, as well as ideas on how to host
their very own Family Night In.
“My family is a big part of my life, and we have a lot of fun playing
video games together when I’m not on the racetrack,” continued Logano.
“I’m glad that I can help spread awareness about something that
encourages families to spend more quality time together!”
