Kongregate.Com Added as a Partner to GameStop's Popular PowerUp
Rewards(TM) Loyalty Program

April 19, 2011
PowerUp Rewards members can now score points on Kongregate.com

SAN FRANCISCO, Apr 19, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Kongregate, a leading free browser-based game site with more than 13 million monthly unique visitors, today announced that it is now a partner of GameStop's hugely popular PowerUp Rewards(TM) loyalty program.

PowerUp Rewards members can now score points on Kongregate.com for various activities in addition to receiving rewards and benefits for shopping in GameStop stores or online at GameStop.com. By linking their Kongregate and PowerUp Rewards accounts, members score 250 rewards points. Members can score an additional 250 points by installing the Kongregate Arcade app for Android phones and tablets. The biggest points opportunities come simply from playing games - each day members can score additional points by completing Kongregate's "Badge of the Day," an achievement on one of the site's 40,000 free games.

PowerUp Rewards members may also extend their game play on Kongregate.com by purchasing Kreds with PowerUp Rewards points. Kreds, Kongregate.com's virtual currency, can be used to purchase and unlock items in some of Kongregate's most popular games, or even to donate funds to developers who upload games to the site.

"Our PowerUp Rewards members have responded enthusiastically to the program since last fall's nationwide debut by taking advantage of immediate rewards and discounts," said Mike Hogan, senior vice president of marketing at GameStop. "We're thrilled to be extending our unique members-only benefits to Kongregate."

Jim Greer, CEO of Kongregate noted, "As part of the GameStop network, we want to encourage current and new PowerUp Rewards members to check out Kongregate.com. Players already love earning our achievements, and now they can get real-world rewards for doing it."

PowerUp Rewards members receive ongoing exclusives and savings, including points for purchases and trades made at GameStop. These points can be redeemed for a variety of rewards, including:

  • GameStop gift cards and merchandise
  • Unique gaming rewards like a retro Atari system
  • Restaurant and movie rewards
  • Subscriptions to Xbox LIVE(R)
  • Codes to unlock exclusive in-game accessories
  • Point cards for all gaming platforms
  • Kongregate Kreds
