Kongregate Arcade 2.0 Adds Multi-Player Challenges and Messaging to World’s Largest Flash Game Library

September 21, 2011

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (September 21, 2011) – Kongregate (www.kongregate.com), one of the leading free browser based game sites with more than 14 million monthly unique visitors, today launched an upgraded version of its hugely popular Kongregate Arcade, the world’s largest collection of free mobile games for Android using Adobe® Flash® Player. In addition to a growing library of more than 575 popular games, Kongregate Arcade 2.0 boasts several new social features. Players can now challenge their friends to compete in specific games, view real-time score comparisons, message friends, and even earn GameStop® PowerUp Rewards™ points.

“We’re proud to be one of the highest rated gaming applications on the Android Market,” said Jim Greer, CEO of Kongregate. “The enhancements we’ve made to Kongregate Arcade 2.0 enable gamers to directly challenge their friends in hundreds of games, adding a new competition layer to an already addictive gaming experience.”

With the advent of these new social features, what was once a largely single-player app becomes a rich multi-player experience. Players can now invite friends and family to compete for high scores, and see where they stack up on the leaderboards in real time. Kongregate Arcade 2.0 also offers users the same suite of messaging tools that members have come to love on Kongregate.com.

In addition to these great enhancements, Kongregate’s parent company, GameStop (NYSE: GME), is adding even more value with unique point-earning opportunities for members of its loyalty program. GameStop’s 13 million PowerUp Rewards™ members will be able to play and score points on Kongregate and Kongregate Arcade that can be redeemed for a wide variety of rewards on www.PowerUpRewards.com.

Kongregate Arcade currently enjoys a 4.6 star rating on the Android Market, and can be found pre-loaded on a variety of handsets and tablets from major manufacturers. Kongregate’s library of mobile optimized flash games has doubled since the application’s launch in January thanks to the support of Kongregate.com’s 8,500 member developer community. With more than 7 million game plays and nearly 500,000 badges awarded, Kongregate Arcade offers one of the richest gaming experiences for Android devices.

Kongregate Arcade 2.0 provides developers with a viable platform to design and showcase their games while also providing a promotional vehicle through parent company GameStop's more than 6,500 stores.
