GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May. 20, 2009-- GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME), the world’s largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced that it will host a nationwide Punch-Out!! video game tournament on the Wii in 2,000 stores on Saturday, May 30, 2009.

Participating GameStop locations will begin their tournaments at 2 p.m. local time; however, customers are encouraged to contact their local store to confirm the details. All contestants must check-in at least 30 minutes prior to the start of play, and you must be at least 10 years old to participate in the event. Parental/legal guardian approval will not be accepted for anyone under 10 years old for this tournament.

The tournament will allow 32 contestants per location, which will be randomly paired up to square off toe to toe in the ring for the opening match. Each match will consist of three short rounds giving contestants three tries to knockout the opponent. The winners of each match will continue to play until one contestant is left standing. Prizes include an exclusive Punch-Out!! T-shirt featuring legendary character Little Mac for the tournament champion and Punch-Out!! bumper stickers available for tournament participants, while supplies last.
