Gamestop Kicks Off Nationwide Major League Baseball 2K9 Tournament

Finalists Compete in a Tournament Culminating at the MLB All-Star Weekend
GRAPEVINE, Texas, Apr 14, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME), the world's largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced that it will host a Major League Baseball 2K9 tournament on Xbox 360 in more than 1,900 stores nationwide beginning on Saturday, April 25, 2009.

Round one will challenge players to hit the most home runs out of the park with the "Home Run Derby" tournament. Winners of the first round will receive a copy of MLB Front Office Manager by 2K Sports. Many of the participating GameStop locations will begin their tournaments at 2 p.m. local time; however, customers are encouraged to contact their local store to confirm the details. All contestants must check-in at least 30 minutes prior to the start of play, and you must be at least 13 years old to participate in the event. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their registration form.

The Home Run Derby winners will advance to the next round where they will have the opportunity to test their skills in nine innings of game play. This round will be played exclusively online via Xbox Live in a ladder up tournament against other players around the country.

The eight finalists from the online portion of the tournament will each receive a trip for two to the MLB All-Star game in St. Louis. They will compete against each other during Fan Fest on July 15 where they will battle it out until the last player is left on the field. The Grand Prize winner will receive a MLB sports memorabilia pack.
