Players Compete for the Opportunity to Win a Trip to Las Vegas and $5,000 in Cash
GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jun. 25, 2009--
GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME), the world’s largest video game and
entertainment software retailer, today announced that it will host Fight
Night Round 4 video game tournaments at more than 2,100 of its U.S.
locations beginning on Saturday, July 11, 2009. The in-store tiered
tournament on the Xbox 360 will test the skills of any champ with four
rounds ending with the “Showdown on the Strip” finals event in Las Vegas.
The tournament will test players’ skills in the ring with other
contestants in a single elimination tournament to determine the Round
One winners. Many of the participating GameStop locations will begin
their tournaments at 2 p.m. local time; however, customers are
encouraged to contact their local store to confirm the exact time of the
tournament. All contestants must check-in at least 30 minutes prior to
the start of play, and you must be at least 13 years old to participate
in the event. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign
their registration form.
The top four players from each store in the first round will advance to
the second round on July 18; where the top two winners of each of these
competitions will advance to the Regional Finals, which will take place
on Aug 1. The top 16 Regional finalists will advance to the championship
event, to be held on Aug 31 in Las Vegas.
Finalists will take their place in the ring for 12 rounds against the
competition on Fight Night Round 4 on Xbox 360 until one
contender is left standing. The Grand Prize winner will receive a one of
a kind championship belt and $5,000 in prize money.
Fight Night Round 4 is available in stores today.
