New Title Releases, Cricket Wireless Service Offerings to Drive Need to
Hire Approximately 25,000 Employees Nationwide, a 47% increase from 2013
GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 25, 2014--
GameStop, a family of specialty retail brands that makes the most
popular technologies affordable and simple, today announced plans to
hire approximately 25,000 employees nationwide as the company prepares
for the upcoming holiday shopping season.
This year’s total number of seasonal hires is approximately 47% higher
when compared to the same period in 2013, reflecting the current
strength of GameStop’s business. The increase also represents GameStop’s
continued focus on providing customers exceptional service as the
retailer prepares for a holiday season full of great new video games for
Microsoft’s Xbox One, the Nintendo Wii U and Sony’s PlayStation 4.
Additionally, Cricket Wireless’s no-annual contract service will be
available in 2,800 GameStop U.S. locations and GameStop’s consumer
electronics re-commerce business is expected to be in demand as
customers look to trade-in their pre-owned devices in order to trade up
to the new Apple iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus smartphone.

seasonal hiring efforts this year to ensure our stores, distribution
centers and refurbishment operation center are appropriately staffed to
meet the customer demand we expect to receive during the holidays.”
In order to manage the breadth of anticipated holiday activity, GameStop
is currently recruiting for in-store Game Advisors, as well as
approximately 250 consumer electronic technicians within its
refurbishment operation center (ROC), and warehouse personnel for the
company’s two distribution centers based in Grapevine, Texas and
Louisville, Ky.
GameStop’s recruiting efforts for identifying and hiring talented,
hardworking and passionate employees for this holiday season are
scheduled to begin in the next few days, and continue until the middle

Seasonal jobs will begin October 6th, 2014 and run through
January 9th, 2015, offering employees part-time, flexible
work schedules during the week which include the potential for up to
10-15 hours of work weeknights, weekends and days. In addition, all
seasonal hires will receive a 15% discount off select merchandise
purchases at GameStop stores as well as online.
