GRAPEVINE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 27, 2005--GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME)(NYSE:GME.B) today announced that it will offer "Halo 2" fans in the U.S. the chance to test their skills online against gamers from all corners of the globe in association with Xbox(TM) Live. The U.S. competitions will kick off during the week of May 2nd. The GameStop sponsored U.S. National Champion will play online in the worldwide finals during the month of June, culminating with the naming of the first ever Xbox Live "Halo 2" World Champion.
To determine the U.S. National Champion, contestants from throughout the U.S. will compete against each other until a National Champion is chosen. The winner from this competition will be decided by a double elimination ladder. The World Finalists will consist of winners from Xbox Live's 24 countries and will vie online for the honor of being named Xbox Live "Halo 2" World Champion.

Each of the 24 country winners will receive a Limited Edition half-size Master Chief Statue, Personalized Xbox Live "Halo 2" Championship sweatshirt and Country Champion Plaque, a Samsung Camcorder and $500 in cash. The worldwide champion will receive the country winner prize package, as well as a 50 inch Samsung Flat Screen DLP HDTV, a Samsung DVD Player/Recorder, a Personalized Xbox Live "Halo 2" Global Champion Trophy featuring a 27 karat gold "Halo 2" game disc, and $1,500 in cash.
Contestants 18 and older can get registration information at GameStop stores nationwide or at www.GameStopStores.com. Registration for this worldwide tournament begins on Tuesday, April 26. Contestants can register with just their e-mail address and Xbox Live GamerTag.
